Mendocino Heritage Pork Company — Philo
John Bemesderfer and Jim Boudoures joined forces in 2011 to try to raise a better pig which would give pork a more intense and moist flavor than most. John had a life’s experience in farming and Jim had 30 years raising pigs. They started a breeding program using the rare Mangalitsa breed and paired it with other well renowned Heritage pigs before eventually settling on the Berkshire as a perfect combo. They then formed Mendocino Heritage Pork Company to share the fruits of their labor with their neighbors and friends.
Red Giant Farms / Guthrie Ranch
From the twinkle in the rooster’s eye to the processing of the finished bird, Red Giant Farms bred chickens live free of the cruelties of the industrial farming system. Our birds live unconfined outdoor lives, eating a wide range of fresh vegetables, sprouts and GMO-free chicken foods. The chickens are finished on (apparently) delicious Guthrie Farms green pastures. You have an incredibly rare opportunity to eat delicious and juicy chickens which have lived happy, free and clean lives.
